Application of Casting AZS Brick in Glass Kiln

2019-04-08

On the one hand, the casting process facilitates the manufacture of large-scale products, which is beneficial for reducing the cracks in the brick joints and along the brick joints; on the other hand, the molten cast materials rarely contain open pores, and it is difficult for the molten glass to intrude into the interior of the material. Therefore, the molten cast material has an incomparable erosion resistance of ordinary sintered refractories. However, the erosion resistance of different fused refractories is still very different. Therefore, refractory materials should be used in a reasonable manner according to the location of the kiln and the material properties.

Below 1400 °C, the erosion rate of each molten casting material is very small; above 1400 °C, the order of erosion resistance is: Cr2O3 - Al2O3, 41 # AZS, 36 # AZS, 33 # AZS, α, β-Al2O3.

Due to the colorability of Cr2O3, the flat glass kiln uses a fused cast refractory of Al2O3-SiO2-ZiO2. The glass kiln melting section is made of 33#, 36# and 41# cast AZS bricks. Typically, 41# cast AZS is used for harsh locations, 36# cast AZS is used for etched areas, and 33# cast AZS is used for relatively mild areas. The cooling section should use fused cast alumina bricks as much as possible. The chest wall of the cooling section can be made of β-Al2O3 brick, and the wall and the bottom brick can be made of α,β-Al2O3 cast brick.
